INSIDE THE AF DESIGN LAB AF New York’s award-winning design team, AF Design Lab, is bringing new ideas to market. This spring, you’ll have the opportunity to meet and collaborate with AF New York partners including Kevin Walz of Walz Work Inc. We caught up with the innovative interior designer to get his insider perspective.
	What inspired you to participate as an AF Design Lab partner? I designed first New York showroom and I was thrilled when AF Design Lab contacted me to do a signature collection for them. Is there a single word or phrase that encompasses your philosophy? I like things simple. Material and process should be evident in a design. I like for design to slowly reveal itself and speak to the observer. How will you work with AF Design Lab clients to help them realize their kitchen and bath visions? This core bath collection responds to typical physical situations and unique opportunities. How do you think the AF Design Lab will change design for everyday consumers? Looking over all the new products in the AF Design Lab, I see a range of new options that speak about quality, value and vision. What’s your take on the current state of design and architecture in New York City? I think the sum of New York is better than its parts. I love the energy of the city, the diversity and spirit. What’s next in New York City Architecture & Design? New York has had its own voice in film, art, fashion and of course music it is finally developing its own unique voice of design as well that is strong and direct—often with a sense of humor and generosity.
