HDMI Basics: Why Brands Don't Matter

For the vast majority of HDTV owners, a $5 HDMI cable will
provide the same performance as a $100 one. Have our insight
on hand before a sly sales clerk talks you into buying
something you don't need.

Color LED Multifunction Printer

The Brother MFC-9120CN ($400) is a color LED multifunction
printer (MFP) geared for home offices and small workgroups.
It provides good speed and paper capacity for its price. We
wish its graphics and photo quality were better, but the
MFC-9120CN should be a welcome addition to micro offices,
especially those that focus on text printing but have the
occasional need for color.

A Traditional Convertible Tablet

The Fujitsu Lifebook T580 ($1,337) is about the size of a
netbook, with a 10-inch touch screen that swivels to reveal
a physical keyboard. Thanks to some premium Intel parts and
business-class features, it's one of the more advanced
convertible tablets on the market, but some deficiencies
make it tough to recommend.

Video Chat While Mobile on Qik

Qik Video Connect for Android and iOS devices brings some
interesting additions to the world of mobile chat. It's
easy to use, includes video mail, and supports uploading
content to social networking sites. Unfortunately, its video
quality leaves something to be desired.

Kayak for Wanderlust

When shopping for a travel deal on a deadline, the free
booking site Kayak is an ideal companion. The site
aggregates results from other travel sites, such as Expedia,
Orbitz, and Priceline, to deliver a true aerial view of
what's available. While it's the best way to book a short
getaway, it's not the best online agent for extended trips.
